Women Build is an opportunity for all genders to come together to build stronger, safer communities. Spend the day—or week!—working alongside other volunteers, our homeowner partners, and Habitat staff as you build a home that will be purchased with an affordable mortgage by an woman-led family. No experience necessary!

What is Women Build?
Women Build is an annual event that recruits and empowers people of all different genders, ages, backgrounds, and industries to come together to build homes and make a powerful and visible impact on our local community through housing and neighborhood revitalization efforts.

During the week of May 17-21, 2022, volunteers will work together to build a new home for one of Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity’s female homeowner partners. Women Build is a truly unique and exciting opportunity for everyone in our community to come together, no matter what their skill level, and roll up their sleeves to promote positive, women-led impact.

Volunteers work under the guidance of Habitat’s construction professionals and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for everyone involved – and improves the community that we share.

Funds raised through Women Build sponsorships and donations will support Habitat’s work building new homes for low-income families in the greater Kalamazoo area, as well as rehabilitation and home preservation efforts for our community’s vulnerable low-income homeowners.

Because we focus on empowerment, your support stretches further. Our affordable homeownership program not only helps to change lives, but acts as a permanent solution – ending the cycle of poverty by building generational wealth, especially for people from historically marginalized groups.

In Support of Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity
No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to have a decent life. We deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures. At Habitat for Humanity, this is what unites us. Through shelter, we empower. Our shared vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Organized in 1983, Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity is one of the oldest Habitat affiliates in the country and one of the largest in Michigan.
